Monarch Autism Assessment

Our Team

Three specialist disciplines. One coordinated team.

Monarch's multidisciplinary team brings together three specialist disciplines working in close collaboration - so your child's assessment reflects the full picture: medical, cognitive, and communication.

The medical foundation

Paediatricians

Our paediatricians provide the medical foundation of the assessment process. They take a detailed developmental and medical history, conduct physical examinations where relevant, and assess for co-occurring medical conditions - including ADHD, epilepsy, sleep disorders, and gastrointestinal concerns - that can accompany or present similarly to autism. Our paediatricians also support families with NDIS documentation, referrals, and medical management where needed.

Cognitive & behavioural expertise

Psychologists

Our registered psychologists lead the cognitive and behavioural components of the assessment. Using standardised tools including the ADOS-2, WISC-V, and VABS-3, they assess your child's cognitive profile, adaptive functioning, and social and emotional presentation, and contribute to the overall diagnostic formulation.

Communication & language

Speech Pathologists

Our speech pathologists assess your child's communication, language, and social communication skills - areas that are central to an autism assessment. They evaluate how your child understands and uses language, engages in conversation, and communicates with others, providing a comprehensive communication profile that informs the diagnostic outcome.

At Monarch, every assessment is conducted by all three members of our multidisciplinary team - a paediatrician, psychologist, and speech pathologist - all on the same day. Our team collaborates closely throughout the process to ensure a thorough and integrated outcome.
